ROSE WITH LOVE BY CLEAN MUNDI
Launched just in time for Valentine’s Day, Rose with Love is a new body butter from Clean Mundi. Featuring a blend of rose essence and adaptogens, Rose with Love is guaranteed to offer a luxurious self pampering experience.
The brand reached out to me to shoot a mini campaign of still images to be used for their product launch. These images would be on their website, email newsletters, social media, and thank you cards, so I had to keep in mind styling and cropping that would allow the flexibility for such varied uses across only 4 images.
The mood of the shoot was dark, sensual, feminine, and focusing on self love, and based on various shades of pink and deep blush colors.
For the first image, I knew I wanted to incorporate the rose element - the hero ingredient of this product. Using only roses in colors that matched the branding, I set up about creating an ultra luxurious and feminine version of a “shelfie” shot. I used a clear glass shelf so no other colors could compete with the pink hues and to give a sense of lightness and airy-ness.
Soft pink gradient hues fill the background and add a dreamier romantic yet playful vibe to the scene.
I wanted to use roses extensively for one more image, however in a different way than the previous image to set them apart from one another.
Creating a simple shot with a solid color background and a flatly view, I laid the jar down and surrounded it with a mix of flower heads and petals.
My idea was to give a sense of a scattered bouquet layout using the jar and flowers.
By using the lighter softer pink color as the background, it allows for the darker rose colors and the product to really pop.
For the third image, I really wanted to convey the dark romanticism aspect of the inspiration. Making use of a darker more muted background along with stronger dramatic shadows helps add to this effect.
I still wanted to make sure a rose element was present in this image, so I opted for a single rose in a glass jar. Keeping a bit of a pop of green from the stem and leaves helps break up interest in the image and keep it from looking too monochromatic.
One of the key highlights to using body butter as a self pampering treat, is how rich and creamy the consistency is. Therefore, I also wanted to make sure the actual product texture was showcased in at least one of the images in this set.
The final image is a little more of a fun styled shot, but keeping the slightly darker moodier lighting. A satin curtain acts as the background to convey a feeling of luxury and indulgence, the theme of this image.
Other props such as a glass of wine, cherries, and chocolate all add to a playful sensual nature of celebrating self love and the Rose with Love product.
